FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (since you need MS Excel functionality)

  1. No, we don't include MS Office within DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). What we offer is a DD VM and a Training room.
  2. Trainers should prepare a free-trial MS Office account for all delegates.
  3. Otherwise, delegates can use their own MS Office account.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've provided an easy method for uploading files from your local machine to the DD Desktop. The only minor catch: currently only one file can be transferred at a time. But you can easily create a zip or archive containing all the files you need and then move that over to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using a cloud storage system, make sure to log out from it before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're running the Chrome Browser, go to "chrome://settings/system" and disable the Hardware acceleration option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register in its Terms and Conditions states that trainers cannot access the wiki.
  2. If you want to submit something for editing on the NobleProg wiki, just copy and paste it into an email and send it to the trainer (a PDF is also fine).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes! Please whitelist any domains that follow this pattern:-

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any additional questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. The Trainer(s) can first choose and configure the DD settings (RAM, CPUs, and disk).
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to create multiple virtual machines, and set up networking between them.
  3. Once the setup is complete, you can clone to delegates in just seconds.
  4. If you need help, contact DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. For instance: 512GB of RAM can be utilized as 512GB *3.
  3. The maximum disk per server is 250GB, each desktop gets 16 CPU threads, and RAM configurations are customizable.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
  2. The video includes audio recording if you used the training room's audio.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly.
  2. Browsers like IE are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection; DaDesktop's performance relies on your local connection speed.
  2. Check your server location. When the coordinator creates the desktop, they'll always pick a server in Romania that's close to the participants.
  3. Turn off your VPN, or switch it to PAC mode. Also, disable any security applications, especially those that interfere with WebSockets, which are essential for smooth DaDesktop operation.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Remote desktop access relies on Websocket

  1. This could be your device blocking it. Check settings that might block Websocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, in the proxy settings, if the option "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is checked, Websocket won't work (it sets the "SOCKS host" with a proxy). Uncheck that and leave the "SOCKS host" field blank. That should resolve the issue.
  2. It could also be the network, not your device. You'd need to contact your network administrator or request that they unblock Websocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. Please see this GPU page for details on GPU support.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. Using DaDesktop is generally like using any standard Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few small issues that might arise with specific software in a training environment, especially when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we don't support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly due to licensing concerns.
