Securing GPU Resources for Training

GPU Reservations

Training Coordinators can secure dedicated GPU resources for their courses through the GPU reservation feature. This mechanism grants these courses top priority access to requested GPU computing hardware, thereby guaranteeing that the necessary infrastructure is available to run training sessions and laboratories effectively.

 

The following outline details how to establish a GPU reservation for a course:

Navigate to the Desktops tab within the course page. Locate the blue button labeled "Reserve GPU," situated directly beneath the Video conference button, and select it.

 

Upon selection, a prompt will appear requesting specific details for your GPU request.

The initial field concerns location, which is pre-set to "Anywhere" by default.

Should you know the nearest city to the participants, you may input it manually by selecting the "Within distance from city" option.

For broader geographical coverage, the "Others..." option is available.

Once the location is set, click "Continue" to proceed to the "Per desktop" section, where you can define specific machine requirements.

In this section, specify the resources needed per machine to obtain an accurate estimate of the associated costs.

** Please ensure accuracy here, as precise inputs lead to more reliable cost estimates and assist course managers in identifying alternative resources should regional capacity be limited.

 

If the entered details are satisfactory, click Continue to advance to the GPU requirements section.

It is recommended to consult with the trainer at this stage to determine the exact needs for the course. Trainers are typically well-versed in the specific GPU Vendor and Model required to deliver their content. If the requirements are uncertain, select "ANY".

Currently, we support two primary vendors: AMD and Nvidia.

Regarding models, our current catalogue is listed. If the trainer's specific needs are unclear, select "ANY".

 

Once you have confirmed all reservation details, click "Place reservation." This action will allocate the necessary funds, activate the reservation, and display its active status on the course page, as illustrated below:

 

If updated information regarding GPU requirements emerges or modifications to the reservation are necessary, please reach out to DD support for assistance with editing the request.
