How to Copy Files from a Host Machine into DaDesktop

One of the most commonly requested capabilities is now available: copying files directly from a Trainer's laptop or desktop into the DaDesktop machine. Whether it's presentation materials, installation ISOs for setting up a nested virtualization system that provides multiple servers and desktops, or simply general files for training sessions, this feature covers all needs.

Our team has implemented a straightforward drag-and-drop file transfer feature in the latest Windows 10 and most Linux templates, allowing you to simply drag files from your host computer—your own laptop or desktop—straight into the DaDesktop machine.

Drag and drop files

At the moment, you can only transfer one file at a time. However, if you need to copy many files, just bundle them into a zip archive and drag that across—the archive’s folder structure stays intact. The transfer process splits large files into chunks for efficient transmission and performs best over a high-speed fibre internet connection.

Uploaded Files


For Linux templates, there isn’t yet a desktop shortcut to the Uploads folder as you'd find in Windows. Instead, look for the files in this directory:

/home/student/uploads-to-dadesktop
